I want to share how happy I was to find Substack. I was never able to successfully blog in a consistent way. It all felt contrived to me and I couldn’t imagine what I could address for years to come. I wrote in fits and starts. Substack changed everything for me. It’s a community of people who love to write and those who appreciate good writing and thoughtful opinions. I felt I had found my tribe.
Like all good things, there are layers to mastering the app and I have only scratched the surface. When I joined I was laying the groundwork for my new 8-Week Journey to a Clear Mind & a Clear Space (website.) I had no clue how all consuming the latter would be. We had the maiden launch and are entering our fourth week. We’re set to roll again in August . . . just in time to get ready for the business of the Fall season and those major holidays on the horizon. I have an exercise called ‘Fresh Eyes’ that invites you to see your living space as if you were a first time visitor. You would be surprised what you learn! In the same spirit, I have been receiving the daily Journey emails and taking the course. I am proud of it and know it will enrich all who dive into the offered experience.
I plan to devote some time to learning Substack’s many offerings. For example, I have no clue yet how to send out a ‘thank you for subscribing’ email. Let this be the moment I thank all of you especially those who have paid subscriptions. I feel appreciated, supported and listened to and that is incredibly comforting in life, isn’t it? If you have topics you want me to cover, do not hesitate to let me know what they are. I have a new podcast dropping next week. I’m lifting sections from the expert interviews I do for those in the 8-week Journey. Those who shared their wisdom with me should be known by the world and this is my part in that mission to spread the good word.
We gather on Saturday mornings and it’s my goal to post some of the Q&A on You Tube. I truly believe that when one person is brave enough to ask a question it will unwittingly benefit many. You won’t see the person asking the question by the way. We sometimes get into sensitive areas and I never violate privacy. We’re on this beautiful planet for a short time as it spins in space. The choice every moment is to contribute good or negativity. The great actor Sidney Poitier was asked once what advice he would give to young actors and his response was immediate and universal: “Be useful to the journey.”
I was lucky to be raised in a faith that asked us to seek out our Life Purpose. I have now been on the yoga philosophy path for 40 years and our concern is the same. As a professional organizer I of course teach you how to create perfect Instagram worthy projects but they are not the end game for me. The end game is living in a clutter & chaos free environment that nurtures and supports you every step of the way. This environment enables you to uncover and fulfill your Life Purpose.
As I explain in the Journey, I don’t mean for you to discover how to make money, get a house, raise a family or win a Pulitzer. Those are all worthy goals but they are not a Life Purpose quest. To help you understand, my Life Purpose is to uplift humanity and organizing is the tool I have been given to share. I’m not the organizer who exclusively shares tips on which product is best or how to get your kids to school on time. OK, yes I do but it’s not the meat of my communications. I want to uncover why organizing is difficult for you. Do you complain about your partner? Your kids? How do you think you found yourself in this situation? Once we assume responsibility, we free ourselves. We know if we created this experience, we are free to create something superior. The current situation is simply a learning tool, a step on the path called life.
Welcome to Zen Organizing TM! I am so grateful for your signing up to take the journey with me.
